Pasty: [prounounced pass'tee]. A pasty is a complete dinner. The basic recipe calls for a pastry shell filled with: ground beef, chopped potatoes, carrots, onions, salt and pepper. Optionally, rutabaga can be added.
A pasty can be eaten many ways. Some people prefer to just spread with butter and enjoy every bite, while others prefer ketchup, mustard, sweet pickle relish, or even gravy. They are assembled and partially baked, ready for you to keep in your freezer. All you have to do is simply put the frozen pasty on a cookie sheet and bake at 350 degrees for 50 minutes to 1 hour.
